life says hello! — a poem

how late does it come,
wisdom,
and slowly too? or, does it?

whereas,
leaving us all flabbergasted,
overwhelmed and dumbfounded
with whacks on our heads,
life says hello!

every time you feel that
you have befriended life,
the bitch comes out of nowhere
to bite you right in the butt.

and, this betrayal
never stops.
EVER.

in fact,
the misery heightens
as you grow old,
without a vision
of what’s coming
to catch you.
